Two days ago, deCODE genetics announced the launch of their $985 personal genotyping product, deCODEme, beating their competitors to market. Perhaps not coincidentally, 23andMe's website is suddenly much more informative today, and the New York Times features a preview of 23andMe's $999 offering. deCODEme and 23andMe will scan about a million and 600,000 sites across the genome, respectively and assess your risk for common diseases, along with providing information about ancestry, physical traits, and the ability to compare genes with friends and family.

Comcast has been sued by a California resident for blocking BitTorrent and other traffic.
"John Hart describes himelf as a Comcast customer who has seen performance hits when using 'Blocked Applications' targeted by Comcast's traffic management application, Sandvine. In his complaint, Hart says that Comcast severely limits 'the speed of certain internet applications such as peer-to-peer file sharing and lotus notes' Comcast accomplishes this by 'transmitting unauthorized hidden messages' to the PCs of those using the applications."
Maybe Comcast will start delivering what people paid for? Nah, it's cheaper to buy a few more politicians, than upgrade your service to what you're paying for.

Adding itself to the small-but-growing list of ISPs that admit to traffic shaping, Canada-based Bell Simpatico has confessed to using 'traffic management' on heavy users 'during peak hours.'
'We are now using a Internet Traffic Management to restrict accounts,' wrote an unnamed forum administrator on Bell Sympatico's support forums. According to the administrator, Bell Sympatico's traffic shaping affects an unmentioned number of applications and protocols, including BitTorrent, Gnutella, Limewire, Kazaa, eDonkey, eMule and WinMX. A Bell Simpatico Manager chimed in immediately afterwards, explaining that 'there continues to be phenomenal growth of consumer Internet traffic throughout the world' and that 'Bell is using Internet Traffic Management to ensure we deliver bandwidth fairly to our customers during peak Internet usage.'

Okay, Unique Hardware is back in semi-half swing. I'm still getting articles, reviews, and guides posted. I've basically done almost everything to make this site top notch quality, but I think I'll throw a few more stylesheets in here for the hell of it.
Last thing is, I need some staff interested in, basically 'blogging' hardware or technology related news on this site. If you wish to be part of the Unique Hardware team, please, let me know.
