Michael Geist is reporting that a new Wikileaks cable confirms that the Canadian Conservative government delayed introducing a Canadian DMCA in early 2008 due to public opposition. The US cable notes confirmation came directly from then-Industry Minister Jim Prentice, who told U.S. Ambassador David Wilkins that cabinet colleagues and Conservative MPs were worried about the electoral implications of copyright reform.
Why are we voting in the Conservatives? Geez guys.

"There are numerous all in one devices competing in the SOHO marketspace. For a product to distinguish itself it has to be affordable, intuitive and easy to configure and use, utilize current technology effectively, or have some key features that give a competitive edge to the businesses that invest their hard earned tech buying dollars. In a field crowded with excellent products, the Epson WorkForce 840 is one such stand out. It is simple to configure and set up. Its intuitive and feature rich interface permits a very gentle learning curve, it is compact, 'green, blazingly fast, feature packed, and given the strong competitive environment, surprisingly affordable."

"For those of you who lived under a rock last year and completely missed out on the BMW Group Designworks USA inspired Level 10, Let me bring you up to speed real quick. To understand this design, you have to first envision a thick, vertically mounted motherboard tray attached to a wide flat base. Unlike a typical chassis', there wasn't the "boxed" look with this chassis at all. In this design everything was mounted to the motherboard tray for support. In the front you had and optical bay rack that was in a separate compartment than the hard drive, and which each received their own slim covers. The top half of the motherboard used a small cover to go over the CPU cooler and PWM area of the motherboard, while yet another hinged compartment covered the expansion cards. This design is very unique, and was very impressive upon release. The biggest problem with the Level 10 I saw was the devastating price tag!"

"In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the Crucial m4 solid state drive against several of the fastest consumer storage devices available. Based on the Marvell 88SS9174-BLD2 SSD processor, this SATA 6 Gb/s drive is claimed to provide 415 MB/s reads and 260 MB/s writes with up to 90,000 IOPS. We've tested the Crucial m4 SSD against its older sibling, the Crucial RealSSD C300, to measure comparative performance differences. The 256GB model CT256M4SSD2 Crucial m4 also competes with the latest SandForce and Indilinx-based solid state drives, and our SSD test results show which product leads the consumer storage market."

I may be shell shocked from that night but we must go on. Today I have Gigabytes flagship G-1 Assassin here to review. Since security is such a big deal to corporations these days we decided to order in these Flash drives and do some testing of our own. We've heard rumors and have experienced ourselves that review sites often get 'cherry picked' samples, so we ordered in as many drives as our $1000 self-prescribed budget would allow. You can look at our receipts from Amazon.com, TigerDirect.com and PConnection if you'd like..."

Heck, even the mid-range stack for AMD and NVIDIA is pretty well set, with Radeon 6000 series going up against the GeForce GTX 500 cards. "I hate these low to mid-range cards; it's nothing against them directly, but they're always just so slow. Sure, they might be great for the price etc. - but testing them is still an absolute pain as they're always so much slower than the stuff I'm used to testing. The whole situation is made only worse by AMD releasing three models today, albeit we're only looking at the two higher end ones of these three new models. The good news for me is that we tend to only ever look at one or two of these new models and then continue looking at the fun stuff and what people wish they could afford, but can't.
That aside, these are important reviews, though, as this is where companies like AMD and NVIDIA make their money. These low end cards are the ones you might not personally see most of, but local computer shops and system integrators will. These are the kinds of cards that companies put "Huge 1GB GAMING video card" on the signs when advertising budget PCs."

"The enthusiast case market is replete with fancy cases brimming with exotic materials and features. It's not unusual for builders to buy 'more case than they need', investing extra money in a case their system can grow into. But sometimes all you need is a basic case: a good-quality enclosure that will serve as a home for your components in a business, "grandma computer", or other non-enthusiast setting. Although Benchmark Reviews does not often look at cases like this, they make up the bulk of the case market. While Cooler Master's best known for its enthusiast cases (such as the HAF series), they serve this market as well with cases like the Elite 343 mATX computer case."

"Today AMD continues to flesh out the Radeon HD 6000 series with a few more cards targeted at more budget-friendly, mainstream market segments. As their names suggest, the new Radeon HD 6670 and Radeon HD 6570 cards launching today are somewhat more powerful than the Radeon HD 6450, but they’re also priced a little higher too. We’re still talking about really affordable price-points though; 1GB GDDR5 versions of the Radeon HD 6670 will be available for as low as $99, while the 512MB GDDR5 (or 1GB DDR3) version of Radeon HD 6570 will be available for around $79..."
