Microsoft has finally confirmed that they are developing an iPod competitor, and that the unit will contain Wi-Fi functionality.
Marketing the device under the "Zune" brand, the device aims to duplicate the iPod's success, and should be available by Christmas. J. Allard, vice president of Microsoft's Xbox team, is working heavily on the project, which is leading some to speculate the device could play games as well.

AMD and ATi have officially announced their plans to merge.
The rumour mill had been running for a good month or two about AMD planning to merge with ATi.
AMD have announced their merger under a "Processing Powerhouse" slogan.
According to AMD, the companies will become a new competitor, better equipped to drive growth, innovation and choice for its customers in commercial and mobile computing segments and in rapidly-growing consumer electronics segments. The transaction, valued at US $5.4 billion, is expected to close in Q4 2006 subject to approval by ATI shareholders, court approval, regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
AMD and ATI will develop commercial platforms that deliver simplicity, stability, and manageability in graphics-rich and mobile environments. As a combined company, AMD and ATI will advance mobile computing by delivering integrated platforms that are designed to extend battery life while optimizing graphics and media processing. AMD and ATI will deliver highly-integrated, low-cost, power-efficient solutions to meet the expanding demands of billions of new users in emerging markets.

After agreeing to merge the user base of their instant messaging clients last year, Microsoft and Yahoo began trials with the new software yesterday. The combination would form the largest instant messaging community surpassing AIM. A joint press release stated that Consumers worldwide from both Microsoft and Yahoo! will be able to take advantage of IM interoperability and join the limited public beta program.
These consumers will be among the first to exchange instant messages across the free services, as well as see their friend's online presence, view personal status messages, share select emoticons, view offline messages and add new contacts from either service at no cost. Microsoft and Yahoo will begin the trial the program in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, the U.K. and the U.S.

Whoa. I mean, oh my, whoa... To think that people have a problem spelling "through", that they want it spelt "thru"...
Acording to this article from Yahoo, there are a group of nut cases that claim English is too hard for children to learn. A word like "they" is too complex, and should be replaced with a word such as "thae". What's next? Replacing the words "too", "to", and "two", with the number two (2)?
To think, these people go to god damn spelling bee contests and protest them. Holy shit, I've never seen anything this fucked up before, ever; Repeat, ever.
